USC Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships

 

Description

FLAS fellowships are provided by a U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant for undergraduate and graduate study of Mandarin Chinese, Japanese or Korean and East Asian area studies. The purpose of the program is to enrich the nation's pool of area and international specialists. Applicants should be planning to use their training to teach, to serve in government or international agencies, or to engage in other work that advances American understanding of other countries. *FLAS fellowships are contingent upon funding from the U.S. Department of Education. Summer FLAS Award (2017 - $5,000 tuition and $2,500 stipend) and Academic Year (2017-18 - $10,000 tuition and $5,000 stipend undergraduate; $18,000 tuition and $15,000 stipend graduate).
